Which platforms should I use?
- Instagram for anything visual: food, hair, fitness, homes, products.
- Facebook for older customers, local groups, events, and reviews.
- TikTok for younger customers and students, with short video.
- Nextdoor for home services and neighborhood businesses.
- LinkedIn if you sell to other businesses.
Pick one or two. Being active on two beats being absent on five.
What should I post?
- The work: before and afters, finished jobs, new menu items.
- The people who do the work, with their permission.
- Proof: reviews and kind messages, with permission.
- Tips your customers keep asking about.
- Timely posts: hours, events, specials, and game days.
How do I keep it going?
- Plan a month of posts at once.
- Take photos in batches while you work.
- Schedule ahead. Meta Business Suite schedules Facebook and Instagram for free.
- Reuse your best posts every few months.
How do I know it is working?
Look at messages, calls, bookings, and website clicks from your profiles, not likes. A post with ten likes that brings one booking beat a post with a hundred likes and none.
Common questions
Is posting every day better for a small business?
Only if the quality holds up. A good post three times a week, every week, does more than daily posts for a month followed by silence.
Should a small business make Reels or short videos?
Yes, if you can. Short video tends to reach people who do not follow you yet. Phone video in natural light is fine.
Do hashtags still matter?
A little. A few relevant ones, including your town, are fine. They will not rescue posts nobody wants to watch.
